Unfortunately, a bad cold kept me home on New Year’s Eve, so I didn’t get to enjoy ringing in the new year with friends or anything, but that didn’t stop me from starting off the new year on the right foot. I watched the ball drop with my little brother, and got some much needed rest.
Since I didn’t really get to enjoy New Year’s Eve, I wanted to make the most of New Year’s Day. I slept in, made some food, and got to work cleaning out my closet… which hasn’t happened in about 5 years. It felt great to be able to clear it out (and make room for Christmas and birthday presents) and be able to donate a bunch of my old dance shoes and clothes. I’ve been meaning to clean out my closet for a while, but it’s been an ongoing process with my transition to college. Some people say that the first day sets the mood for the whole year, so hopefully this will keep me on a productive track.
I also went to church and dinner with my family today, and spent some time working on my blog Instagram (you can follow by the link in the sidebar or @kristenshaneblog)
and starting some new blog posts! I hope you all had a merry Christmas and a happy new year. I’ve been taking my winter break to relax, enjoy time with family, and get ready for the new year! I’m looking forward to the possibilities of a brand new year, and I can’t wait to see where 2017 will take me.

Thank you!! It was a nice day, even if it wasn’t the most exciting. I was as well, but it finally caught up with me when I needed to store new stuff. It’s always rewarding though to finally clean it out!
