A Magical Weekend at Disney!

I went to Disney with my family and my friend Hayden and her family, some of our closest family friends, for the weekend, (but that weekend happened to be right before my final exams, so I couldn’t get this post up until now…) and we went to Epcot and Magic Kingdom.

We went to Orlando to celebrate my sweet mama’s birthday, and she’s raised me to never be too old for Disney!

I was able to miss my one Friday class, making it an extra long weekend, and came home Thursday night, which turned out great because I got to spend the whole day Friday with my mom! So of course, we went and got our nails done, which is always a special time, since we don’t get to enjoy that kind of thing together as much while I’m away at school.

I also got a whole day with the puppies, which is always a plus!

We drove to Orlando Friday after lunch, and somehow, we ended up getting an upgrade on our hotel room… An upgrade to a massive 2-bedroom suite that’s probably bigger than the house I’ll be moving into at school for the fall, it was crazy!

But it was fun, and the hotel also had a big pool and lazy river, so we spent the night playing in the pool on Friday night, and went to bed early to hit the park early in the morning!

We headed out early to be at Epcot before it opened to beat the lines, which is always the way to go! First, we rode the Test Track and *pro tip*: if you go through the single rider line, you’ll have a shorter wait and you’ll most likely still get to sit with your party!

The Flower & Garden Festival was going on, so the whole park was extra pretty and spring-y and flowery and even more lovely than usual. My mom is a big gardener and butterfly-lover so it’s always especially fun to go to Epcot during the festival.

We had fast passes for Soarin’ and rode the Nemo ride, and then headed around the world.

After a trip through Japan and ‘America’, we dined in China for lunch and stopped for photo ops in Canada and France.

No Disney day is complete without good snacks, and these two are my ultimate favorites. This ice creamery was adorable, and right outside the park along the boardwalk. I have a soft spot for soft pretzels (ha!) and this Mickey one was #pretzelgoals.

After our day at the park, the sky started to threaten rain and thunderstorms, but that didn’t stop us from shopping! The Prime Outlets in Orlando are always fun and have all my mom and I’s favorite stores.

Saturday night, we walked to Disney Springs from our hotel for dinner and more shopping. I hadn’t been to Disney Springs since all the renovations were complete, and it’s so different now, but there are lots of good stores!

I walked over 20,000 steps and around 8 miles this day, but it was totally worth it.

Magic Kingdom will always be a dream to me. There’s nothing quite like the site of Cinderella’s castle as you stroll now Main Street USA!

I found this cute little flower patch that made the perfect picture-spot before the park opened, and I even got a rare picture with my little brother (yes, little! He was about 4 inches shorter than me this time last year!)

We rode Space Mountain and Buzz Lightyear twice each while the lines were short. The Buzz Lightyear ride is a family favorite and we always compete for the highest scores! I beat Hayden the first round on Buzz, obviously not the score seen in this photo. My brother was a pro at figuring out which spots score the highest points, and he beat both us of big time!

My score is on the right!
Next, Hayden and I spun until we were dizzy on the Teacup ride, but we laughed so hard it was worth it.

We made our way to the Frontierland side of the park for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Pirates of the Caribbean.

I had to drive back to school that day so we couldn’t stay at the park too long, but I did get one last magical shot of the castle on that hazy day!
