A Day at the Florida Strawberry Festival

After spending nearly all of Saturday volunteering with my church (we worked concessions at a Yankees spring training game, and it was exhausting), my mom and I opted for something fun for the weekend and headed to the Florida Strawberry Festival in Plant City, FL.

Going to the Strawberry Festival was my #1 thing to do while I’m home for spring break (as well at the top of the list for my March goals), so I was very excited to go. (I also added it to my growing 2018 goals list!) Our house is about 45 minutes from the Strawberry Festival, so we’re lucky to be close by. We went to the festival a few times when I was younger, but I don’t remember going in the past 5 or 6 years or so, so it was fun to go back. Sunday was the last day of the festival, and we expected it to be crowded, so we headed out early. We didn’t hit much traffic and ended up getting a parking spot in the first row which was amazing.

We always get strawberry shortcake from a Catholic church that has a massive make-your-own shortcake booth, and that ended up being our lunch.😋

Naturally, we had to get our fair-fried-food-fix and enjoyed some fried oreos and fried cookie dough (yum yum!)

We ended up walking around nearly the whole festival trying to find the livestock showcase booth (where local FFA students show their animals), but by the time we found it, I had my strawberry lemonade and wasn’t allowed to bring it inside.

It’s been surprisingly cool here in Tampa and not-so-spring-break-weather, but of course it was extra hot and sunny the day we were outside walking around. Even though it was a little warmer than I would’ve liked, it was still so fun and special to enjoy the festival and hang out with my mom, since that doesn’t happen as much with me being away to college most of the time.

Do you have any fun plans for spring break? How’s the weather where you’re from?
