5 Back to School Outfits with Kohl’s

Can you believe it’s already back to school season?! I haven’t been this nervous/excited for back to school since I started college three years ago, and in a few weeks, I start law school! My college back to school shopping is more focused on clothing than school supplies, since most college classwork is done on my laptop. Thankfully, Kohl’s has me covered this year for back to school outfits!

My college style revolves around clothing that is comfortable, versatile, and chic. The feminine casual style of the Mudd clothing items I picked out match so well with my personal style! I love how these outfits turned out.

When shopping for back to school outfits, I look for pieces that are super wearable, soft, and easy to dress up (for weekends, work, or gamedays) or down (for class and every day wear). I’m so excited to show you the items I picked!

Kohl’s has such fashionable and affordable items, which makes it the perfect choice for back to school shopping!

They have so many great deals in store and online year round, and right now they’re offering $10 off any $50 back to school purchase (valid 8/2 – 8/18), which applies to all the items in this post!

Outfit 1: Weekends to Workwear

The first top I picked is this Mudd Peasant Blouse in this burgundy floral print. I love this style top for workwear especially, but it’s also so comfortable and wearable for weekend dinners or fall gamedays! I imagined wearing this top for formal class presentations or interviews, when a cute outfit really helps boost my confidence!

I’m wearing a size medium in all the tops today! The Mudd brand is juniors’ sizing, but the size charts helped me find my perfect fit.

I paired this floral top with these dark wash high-rise Mudd skinny jean leggings, and I love the way these fit! I’ve been on the hunt for well-fitting jeans this summer, to wear to my internship and into fall. My torso is long, so finding high-waisted jeans (that are actually high-waisted on me) can be a struggle, but these fit so well.

The denim material is stretchy and so comfortable! Definitely impressed with these. I’m wearing a size 9, and the length on me hits right at my ankles. I’ve 5’5” for reference, and usually a 28 in jeans!

Outfit 2: Classic & Comfortable

Comfortable v-necks are everyday go-to. I love this top to pair with jeans, shorts, leggings, or even athletic wear. This mineral black burnout v-neck is my ideal top for every day, and I find myself reaching for the type of shirt from class days, to weekend errands, to cozy days at home.

And the last few weeks of summer mean only a few more weeks to finish my summer reading list!

Outfit 3: This Summer’s Color

If you haven’t noticed, I’ve fallen in love with the color yellow! I never had any yellow clothing until recently, but I’m so glad I decided to give it a try! This button front tank (in the color ‘golden luxe stripe’) is one of my new faves! The material is waffle-knit and so stinkin’ soft!

I’m already obsessed with this one and so excited to keep styling it for back to school! And this tank would be so cute with cardigans and boots during fall!

Outfit 4: Sassy Chic

I was so excited to find this lace-front tee! I’m wearing a size medium again in the color ‘delicate wine’. This style top is another Kristen-classic, and I love this top for the way it can be styled up or down.

The jersey material of this tee make it one of the comfiest tops I own! And, it’s available in 8 colors, sizes XS – XXL.

Good jeans are hard to find, but good jean shorts are even more difficult! I honestly didn’t think I’d find a pair of well-fitting shorts and jeans on the first try, so I’m real excited about these.

I found these Mudd high rise denim midi shorts in the ‘dark destructed’ wash, and I have so many good things to say about them. Again, they’re truly high-waisted on me, and the legs aren’t too tight around my thighs 🙌. I love the look of cutoff denim shorts, and I was so ecstatic to see Kohl’s carrying super stylish denim shorts with longer inseams, which is what I’m always looking for.

If you struggle finding (not-too-short) shorts that fit your waist and legs, these could be for you!

Outfit 5: The ‘Kristen Shane’ Color

Did you really  think we’d make it through BTS shopping without finding something pink?!

This ribbed button top was love at first sight! This one comes in 7 colors, sizes XS – XXL, but I seriously could not resist the blush pink color!

I’m so into the faux-button detail this season, and I love the flattering fit of this top. It is a cropped length, but don’t worry, it’s Kristen-approved because it’s long enough to wear tucked in to high waisted jeans or shorts (shown with the same jeans as outfit 1 & 2).

I wore this top out to dinner with my family to celebrate the end of my summer internship, so naturally I styled it with my favorite pink purse.

I will do my absolute best to not wear this top every single day… but no promises 😊.

That concludes a look at my back to school outfits!

As you know, I’m all about finding wearable, feminine fashion on a college budget and the Mudd brand from Kohl’s does just that, so be sure to check them out for all your BTS shopping! (And don’t forget the $10 off $50 coupon 8/2 through 8/18!)

Thank you again to Kohl’s for making this post (and my new-and-improved BTS wardrobe) possible!

Have a great week!

With love, Kristen Shane

Congrats on starting law school in a few weeks! You’re going to do amazing. And it looks like you got so many great outfits for back-to-school. I start classes in just a week (which honestly doesn’t feel real to me because I was doing the DCP the past 2 semesters) and I’m so excited to do some back-to-school shopping for it. Kohls will definitely be on my list!
